Steps on Buying from Garment Manufacturers

If you want to be a clothing retailer, you have to buy from garment manufacturers directly to ensure that you can still make enough profit from the clothes. It is cheaper to get your stocks using this manner. Here are the usual steps that you need to go through to buy from a garment manufacturer:

  • Look for a clothes manufacturer with a tax ID number from the state.
  • Go to trade shows and other fashion events. This is much better than checking magazines with styles that were chosen to be covered months before their publication. Some of the most famous fashion shows are the New York Fashion Week and Las Vegas’ MAGIC.
  • Sign up as a client with the manufacturer that you have chosen so you can have your won client account. However, you may not be allowed to order on credit with your first ever transaction. Clothing suppliers usually do not allow credit unless they’ve known the client for sometime.
  • Get the catalogs from the manufacturers with clothes that you like. If you want to look at their website, you may need their password too because their official sites are likely well-guarded. Catalogs usually include the photos of the clothes, fabric, fit, appearance, and price. If you want to place your order, it would be best to use these methods, especially when websites are often updated with seasonal sales.
  • Make sure to order clothes that fall under the common desires of your store’s target market. Get the special sizes of the clothes too, if applicable.
  • Keep track of your order to make sure that nothing will go wrong in the process.
