Classic Car Mechanics

Classic cars are the old mechanic’s dream come true. For one, it assures them of a job – American muscle cars, for example, in its modern day incarnation, are completely computerized, and all a mechanic needs is a simple computerized diagnostic tool that will tell the mechanic which part of the car needs to be replaced or serviced. It is not a guessing game anymore, the way older mechanics used to hunt down the slightest engine trouble in a car – and with classic cars, the technology is still the same. No computers, just the experience of the mechanic and the sound of the engine running.

And after the diagnosis, a computer with an Internet connection might help a new mechanic to hunt down the original spare parts one would need, but the experience of an older mechanic will lead to suppliers of the beaten track – suppliers of mopar that one will cross paths with in one’s lifetime. The Internet may be the newest way of finding things, but not yet completely. A network of experience and contacts is still as reliable as it was before.

To be sure, the better the mechanic, the less of his services you should need, but when it comes to collectible cars, you really don’t care how often you need a mechanic. In fact, the more available he is, the better it is going to be for your classic cars. And the better it is going to be for the classic car’s market value, and most importantly, the better return on the investment you are going to get.
